The home of die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fans. It's not just a team, it's a way of life!

Best Bets (plus two)

September 29, 2010 by Steel Haven

A second straight best bet loss. The Packers made too many mistakes. Hard to overcome 17 penalties and a return touchdown. My pick of the Niners was just stupid. A road trip coming off a Monday night loss is the kiss of death. And I died. Need to be smarter.

Time to throw some darts at the board and pray. Things are not going well so far. I just don't have a good read on the league. I mean the Bears, Chiefs and Roethlisberger-less Steelers are the last three undefeated teams. That's insane. I wanted to try to get away from picking road favorites. I failed. Three more on tap. Two are divisional matchups which makes it doubly stupid. A man likes what he likes. At least the Colts won for me last week.

Best Bet

Houston Texans (-3.0) over Oakland Raiders

The Texans ran into a buzz saw last week at home against the desperate Cowboys. I expect a rebound. The Raiders aren't toothless. The light seems to have come on for Darren McFadden and Bruce Gradkowski comes to play. I just don't envision them having the weapons to hang with the Texans this week.

Others

Indianapolis Colts (-7.5) over Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars are awful. Lack offensive weapons. Have problems handling the pass rush. Hanging with the Colts seems unlikely.

New York Jets (-5.5) over Buffalo Bills

Bills are beyond awful. They did manage to put up a decent offensive showing against the struggling Pats defense. The Jets are not the Patriots. Can't believe I just wrote that.... Could The Sanchize implode and keep them in the game. Always a possibility. His performance the last two weeks make me think it won't happen.

Last Week

Green Bay Packers (-3) over Chicago Bears LOSS

San Fransisco 49ers (-2.5) over Kansas City Chiefs LOSS

Indianapolis Colts (-5.5) over Denver Broncos WIN

Year to date: 4-5   Best bets: 1-2
