Stillers-Bengals wrapup

Oh, the view from the Black and Gold glasses was looking dim, No, not from any danger of losing the game. With the way the defense was playing, when Gardocki pinned the Ben-gals inside the 10 as time was running down, I wasnt too concerned with the outcome of the game. What was concerning the wearer of the Glasses was the Stillers minus 4 points. Yes, the Wearer has been known to place a wager or two on the game, and things were looking bleak. But, the Defense came through, and the Wearer of the Glasses is a little richer today!

Some thoughts on the game and what others have said:

  • A note to my good buddy, Still Mill. Bettis is the only logical winner of the Hard Hat Award this week. Another great effort by Jerome. And in this day in age of basketball players going into the stands and college football games ending in fights, it is refreshing to see people like The Bus. He took way less money for this year, knowing he wasnt going to be the focal point of the offense, but, when HIS TEAM needed him, he was ready. Sure, bicker about his weight, but Jerome has been ready when called upon, and he is a genuinely good guy.
  • I, too, as many others, figured that Plex was gone after the year. I, too, figured the Stillers should spend their money on an extension for Ward and a contract for The China Doll Bell. Well, I see no reason to resign the China Doll, unless he comes at a bargain price, and he just may considering UPMC is considering renaming the hot tub after him at the practice complex. And, as much as I love Hines, the question is How long do we sign him for? I dont know his exact age, what is he, 28 or so? Will Hines be able to function til he is 33 or 34 playing the way he does? He is taking a lot of abuse, the Ben-gals roughed him up pretty good. So, maybe, just maybe, there is money for Plex. Maybe Plex realizes that him and his best friend Big Ben can become the Culpepper-Moss or Young/Montana-Rice combo in the next few years.
  • I wasnt around a TV for the 1st half of the game, so I listened to Myron. All Stiller fans should be required to listen to Myron for at least one half of a game. If anyone else listened to Myron in the first half, he was in top form. Hillgrove and Tunch were throwing lobs to him, and Myron was on a roll! It was truly a pleasure to listen to him.
  • What a contrast in games this week New England vs Baltimore at one end of the spectrum, and then in the Toilet Bowl, Miami vs San Francisco.
  • Stillers 30 Redskins 7. Ben throws for about 310.
