Best Bet (plus two)

The NFL is back. Time to rejoice.

I was on an 8 game playoff winning streak after losing twice on the opening Saturday of Wild Card weekend before the Steelers came up short in the Super Bowl. The least said about that the better.

Best Bet

New York Giants (-3.0) over Washington Redskins

A road favorite in a week 1 divisional matchup, maybe not the smartest choice. I just feel the need to bet against the Sex Cannon in his first start on opening day since 2007. I still can't believe the Redskins QB competition was between him and John Beck.

Others

New England Patriots (-7.0) over Miami Dolphins

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady over Tony Sparano and Chad Henne by more than a TD. Seems like a simple pick. Even in Miami as my second road favorite in a divisional matchup.

Arizona Cardinals (-7.0) over Carolina Panthers

I actually think the Panthers are going to be improved. They have a solid running game and what should be an improved defense. Cam Newton's athleticism should be an improvement over Matt Moore and Jimmy Claussen even if his passing skills will take time to develop. I just think a cross country trip to open the season against a team looking to rebound with a vastly improved situation at QB is a tough task.

Super Bowl

Pittsburgh Steelers (+2.5) over Green Bay Packers LOSS

2010 Playoffs: 8-3
