Huge blow. I was looking forward to seeing him improve from the few shanks he had last year. Guess we're back at ground zero with special teams

This does not put us back to "ground zero" for special teams, sheesh.

But I do not like picking up that punter from waivers.

jeez one day and we lose a big component to the team.....

It mite not seem like a big deal now, but when we are in a big game mid season and the punting starts costing are defense serious field position........

Ernster is not good-- remember, he was the Brown's punter opening day--he dropped the snap and punted like a ten yard punt. That's my only impression; maybe some up and coming punter that's having a good camp will get dumped.

Sepulveda will be missed.
Not only a damn good punter with a hell of a leg, but at 6-foot-3 and 230-pounds and a history of being a Linebacker, the guy was like having another player in punt coverage.

Really? Did he ever record a tackle last year or improve the coverage unit at all?

Does a player have to make a tackle to be a value on the coverage units?

But since it matters so much to you, check out his stats at:

http://www.nfl.com/players/danielsepulveda/careerstats?id=SEP474618

and you can see that He did have one solo tackle.

According to http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl#496402
Place Kicker Julian Rauch took over as punter for today's practice. Any word on how he looked?

Steelers | Rauch takes over punting duties

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers PK Julian Rauch took over the punting duties Tuesday, July 29, because P Daniel Sepulveda (knee) is out for the season after injuring his right knee.

BRING BACK MIKE BARR!! He was really close to beating out Gardocki in '06. Maybe even give Gardocki a call.

Great...so this means more of giving the opponents the ball at the 50 yard line? Not good. Field position is key when it comes to special teams, and Supulveda was only going to get better.

Figures we get this guy Ernster off the Clownies who botched up one of the worst kicks of the season last year. I'm looking forward to it :geek:

Any punter who is half good is already in a training camp somewhere. It's either this guy or somebody else that another team cuts between now and September. I guess we need to look at the other training camps and scout the punters who might be cut to see if they are better than Ernster.

Mike Barr was later cut on November 27, 2007 for a dismal 2007 season, finishing last in the NFL in punt averages

Didn't the Rams find a bag boy to quarterback...wasn't Bruce Willis 'bouncing' 'fore his chance at die hard...in other words if I'm a punter staring down at some mundane gig...don't you get on the telephone 'n' sell yourself for a tryout 'n' then find a way to camp....
