Direct TV and NFL Sports package

Postby rrman » Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:29 pm

Not right that the NFL allowed Direct TV to be the only provider for all NFL games as a package deal. Not fair to people who have DISH or COMCAST. What do you think this will do to the price of the package in the future?

I no longer live in the 'Burgh, and have been very happy not to have to drag myself to a sports bar every weekend to watch the Steelers, thanks to DirecTV. The price for this privledge hasn't been too horrible (considering the food and mass quanties of beer I used to buy), but I hate the incessant 'nickle & diming' that goes along with the NFL Sunday Ticket.

For example, it seems to me that all of the games are readily available in HD, but DirecTV charges a premium for you to see the games in this format as part of their overpriced 'Super Fan' package. I wouldn't be surprised if they degrade the HD broadcast so that you feel the need to pay for this upgrade.

I have the basic NFL Sunday Ticket package (standard format games) so although I get to see the Steeler games, unless they are being broadcast nationally, I don't get the benefit of a full-HD experience...
