Reports are that Plax Burress was shot in the leg with a gunshot. The suspect in the case is of course Plax himself. I thought he had good hands, but maybe not.

Plaxico Burress involved in "accidental shooting"
Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was shot last night, the Daily News has learned, and taken to a local hospital with what is described as “a non-life threatening wound.”

According to a source familiar with the situation, the 31-year-old was involved in an accidental shooting late Friday night. Details of his injuries, or information on who shot him, wasn’t immediately available.

The Giants had no comment.

Burress has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and on Friday afternoon he was declared “out” of the Giants’ game in Washington tomorrow. The team is scheduled to leave for Washington today. Burress was not expected to make the trip.

Happened ata nightclub, according the article.

Why put yourself into a situation where you're at a club that you feel requires a firearm for protection? Not to mention that it's in the second half of a season where your team is contending for another championship. What good can possibly come from that?

I understand that high profile athletes often need protection where other people wouldn't. But if you feel you're entering a situation that could potentially be dangerous, stay the fuck home!

It's the price you pay for banking $6 million a year, or whatever his contract his. Live with it.

I don't own a gun and I don't go to nightclubs, so there's no way I would take a gun to a nightclub.

For NFL players, nightclubs and trouble always seem to appear together in the news reports.

Although I understand the Neanderthal fascination with booze, adoring women, music, and tribal dancing, stay home, Plax (you stupid shithead), or hire a bodyguard if you must go out; keep the gun out of your pocket.

As funny as I thought this story was initially, the humor is gone now that he's probably facing a mandatory 3 1/2 year sentence for having a gun not registered in New York. The fact that the Giants dumped him for the year tells me he's in a world of trouble. And, I say this in the context of the story Ben told about having a knife pulled on him by some nut job.

Plax is 31 right now, if he were to get 3 1/2 yrs in prison, it is very likely that we have seen the last of him. I don't think Plax would have ever one citizen of the year in the NFL, but either way it is sad to see what could have been a legit NFL career cut very short.

This could be the best thing to ever happen to Plax, if he can learn from it and then stop hurting himself all the time with his attitude and behavior problems.
