He keeps getting mentioned in the same sentences as Sean Taylor, which must be good.

Well, they finally drafted a CB in the 1st round, after we have all been yelling for them to do so for some years now. Now lets see if he plays, let alone plays well.
At least he's not 5'10". Pretty tired of 5'10" corners in the Burgh.

I really have to wonder if The Bungholes drafted CB William Jackson right before The Steelers because they knew he was high on their list? Hopefully that works out for them this season as much as The Ratbirds drafting TE Maxx Williams did for them last year.

The Steelers draft thus far seems to have a theme: BOOM OR BUST
the 3 players selected certainly are in positions of immediate need and they will be relied on early to fill gaps, they all appear to have large upside and potential, but each has glaring issues as well.... Primarily technique issues. Hopefully our coaches can fix those issues and develop these players....and quickly.
As the success of that development goes, so goes the Steelers season ......Boom of Bust.

Since our defense has been lacking any "BOOM!" since Troy's 30th birthday, I like the idea of adding some. I'm going with boom, Hammer.

First two picks have to play this year. Seem to be reasonable picks. After that maybe the big tackle is a good idea... not sure about the nose tackle as he seems a bit small--not the 6-1 part but the 307. Probably needs to weight 320+, but I guess they can feed him. I know shit about the college talent ranks, but they HAVE to draft a future replacement for Ben sometime soon...

I agree with you Len regarding the QB of the future. I posed the question on another thread before glancing at your comment here. My one and a half cents worth is they have the offensive talent to win the SB this year and that it might be urgent given Ben's age. Also they have to start rotating RB's more often and not be caught flat-footed if/when Bell goes down again. Yes, they have Deangelo, but they must know what else they have in the bullpen, plus it keeps the stars fresh and healthy. And it will be necessary to get some Boom out of the new D or it will be a bust, isfry and Hammer.

I was pretty pleased with this year's draft crop. As the old cliché goes "only time will tell", but as of right now I like it.

It was said that picks 1 and 2 could've been taken later in the draft and/or they were "reaches", but I'm just glad we got them. And if they were "reaches", I'm just glad they reached for needs and not luxury picks. See Archer, Dri.

Steelersix.. yes the time is now to win another Super Bowl I agree... BUT Ben isn't making through seasons without injury anymore. Last year was just luck he wasn't lost for the season and he doesn't get protected like Brady. It would be a really good idea to draft a raw talent and let him sit behind Ben, learning.

Rude. No wonder this site is almost dead. If I had the knowledge to do a review I would have. I guess it was wrong of me to expect a full draft recap like there is every other year. I guess when I see the time taken to post 7 articles on pre-draft mocks and rankings that I expected more than just a day 1 recap when we actually have all these new players on the team. Enjoy your dead page and forum guys. Sorry I tried to come back!

It's always "dead" this time of year. 2-3 more months it won't be. Same as always.

The Burns kid was a world class high hurdler who came out as a junior. He will spend his senior season under the tutelage of Carnell Lake. What I like about him is his hands to make the pick. He can bait receivers and 1st rounders from the U have nice careers. Has very long arms. Made a beautiful one handed grab at the combine. Don't think for one minute he's a track diva either he's physical.

Sean Spence wow. They say safety but he can also play corner. Fantastic tackler. I love the way he hits. Kids a missile. He's great in coverage too. I view him as hybrid S/CB. Extremely intelligent speaks three languages fluently. He will match up well against TE's.

Javon Hargrave from the same school as the great Donnie Shell. He's a quick interior guy that will give guards trouble and disrupt the pocket. He did well against big school competition at the senior bowl. Coach Mitchell a Bear Bryant disciple is high on this kid and is excited to be working with him. With where the Steelers were drafting i think they did a fantastic job with these picks.
