StillSmitter's Playoff picks and Week 1 picks ATS

Postby StillSmitter » Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:45 pm

It has been a while since I have been here, so I am quite sure others have already made their predictions for who will make the playoffs. Here are mine:

AFC Div winners: NE, Indy, Pitts, SD
AFC Wildcards: Jets, Jax
NFC Div winners: Dallas, Tampa, Minn, Ariz
NFC Wildcards: Eagles, Seattle

AFC Championship: Stillers 30 Pats 20
NFC Championship: Philly 16 Tampa 10

Super Bowl: Stillers 28 Eagles 10

This week's picks ATS:

Washington (+ 4 1/2) over NY Giants - Will be interesting to see what the Giants' DL looks like

Stillers (- 6 1/2) over Houston - Need to get off to a fast start and win the ones we should, especially at home.

Baltimore (+ 1 1/2) over Cincinnati

Miami (+ 3 1/2) over NY Jets - Brett Favre Era gets off to a rocky start.

Kansas City (+ 16 1/2) over New England - While KC may be one of league's worst, Tom Brady will be rusty enough to let the Chiefs keep this close.

Jacksonville (- 3 1/2) over Tennessee

Detroit (- 3 1/2) over Atlanta

Toronto (aka Buffalo) Bills (- 1 1/2) over Seattle

New Orleans ( - 3 1/2) over Tampa Bay - In what may be a pretty competitive division, teams must win divisional home games.

Philadelphia (- 7 1/2) over St Louis

Dallas (- 5 1/2) over Cleveland - While I am not convinced that Dallas is the team to beat in the NFC, I can't believe all of Cleveland's preseason problems will disappear just because it is the regular season.

San Diego (- 9 1/2) over Carolina

San Francisco (+ 2 1/2) over Arizona

Indianapolis (- 9 1/2) over Chicago

Green Bay (- 2 1/2) over Minnesota

Denver (- 3 1/2) over Oakland

First Look Goodies (FLG) - The games, that on first look at the point spread, look to be a few points higher or lower than expected.

Miami (+ 3 1/2) over NY Jets
Jacksonville (- 3 1/2) over Tennessee
Dallas (- 5 1/2) over Cleveland

I usually only play 1 or 2 games..especially during week 1.

There is one lock this week... The Steelers will cover 6.5 easily by halftime. Steelers win by at least 2 TD's...with the spread never in doubt.

Anyone know Stillers record vs spread over the last 3 years or so? I really don't remember it being good.

Now I'm REALLY worried about this game.

I don't know about the spread, but the Steelers do own the NFL's Longest Opening Day Winning Streak. It's not as long as you would think though, it's only five games, but should be six by the end of this weekend.

Care to revise this due to Golden Child's busted knee? Or you have enough faith in Cassel to take 'em that far too? They ARE a pretty talented bunch with some top-notch video equipment, ya know.

I'm sure everyone else wouldn't mind you doing a do-over. ;)
