I doubt Washington even gets picked up next year...

And what's with the lame ass insults...you're a little rusty...been hangin out at Fury too long.

You don't have to hold back here. Tell us how you really feel.

You think Micah Rucker will be with the Steelers longer than Washington?

Rucker will be VERY LUCKY to make the practice squad this year.

Very, very lucky, sweetheart.

....and you don't think Washington will have a job in the NFL next season? How fucking dumb are you? (and that's a serious question)

Last I checked there isn't much of a market out there for unknown guys from Tiffin who can't run routes or catch the ball.

Washington's stats are directly related to Ben extending the play and improvising.

Washington running a timing route? Fuhgeddaboutit.

If there was a market out there for him, don't you think he would have gone somewhere else this year instead of signing a one-year tender.

The one year contract was kind of a slap in the face for such a valuable prospect, wasn't it?

When your hearts on fire the smoke tends to get in your eyes a bit. Don't it fag?

Reality isn't your strong suit, right dickslap?

Can't catch? Can't run routes? The numbers kinda shit all over that theory, huh?

9 TD catches and over 1,000 yards receiving the last two years, still only 24 years old....oh and at a bargain price. But your pea-brain has decided Micah Rucker is going to move Washington off the roster?

Micah Rucker.

That's some funny shit!

It is true that Washington drops some balls but he does have a knack for getting open. There are alot worse 3rd wideouts in the league than Nate Washington.

No chance. Ward, San Antonio, Sweed, and Washington are locks... that leaves 1 (at most 2) WR spots available. I'm guessing with the talent they have at TE, they only keep 5 WR, with the last one being a return specialist like Reid or Bloom.

God knows he can jump, co-founder of Team Flight Brothers (youtube it if you never heard of them), and he has a 41" vertical.

That said, I don't see him doing much this year...

Wow! Look at those measurables.

I really hope I can bump this thread later this year for KC.

But if I have to wait till next year, I'm all right with that.

How does a guy with those measurables end up undrafted?

He went to a little school just like Nate, and he's fighting the odds to become the next underpaid Steelers wide receiver.

I can see you developing a serious man crush on this guy in the next few years.

He's got the size of Plax, yet he'll be underpaid and underappreciated just like Nate...

Your stupidity is overwhelming. I root for Nate Washington and guys like Willie Parker because THEY CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND SUCCEEDED. I'll be rooting for Micah Rucker too, but your wish for him to move Nate Washington off the roster is downright stupid. First of all, that AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, but playing along to your fantasyland ignorance, if it did the Steelers would be FUCKED if something happened to either Ward or Holmes. Sweed is a rookie and expecting a lot from him this season isn't very smart. Look at Burress' rookie year. He was TERRIBLE. I hope Sweed is better than that, but I expect very little from him. If Washington left and Rucker made the squad, you'd be counting on a guy that, like Sweed, has NEVER PLAYED AT THIS LEVEL. Never accomplished anything in the NFL. Washington has done very well over the last two seasons and the numbers prove that point.

Use your brain and root for Micah Rucker to either make the practice squad or for him to beat out guys like Willie Reid or Dallas Baker and then Rucker would be the number 5 guy. Perfect for his experience level.

Hopefully, Rucker can help out and down the road he can be a successful receiver for the Steelers, but the odds are against him. The odds were against Washington and he succeeded.

Let's see how Rucker fairs.

I've seen Nate's upside...It ain't enough.

I am ready to move on to the next experiment.

When you look at the measurables, and factor in Poppin's reports. "He has HUGE hands" How can you not be anxious for this kid to be given the same chance as Washington?

How many games has Nate started for Ward. And what were his numbers in those games?

I always wanted Washington to "breakout" and show why Ben raves about him...but I haven't seen it.

Next up...Micah Rucker

Here, I'll try and reason with you. I'm happy you're high on Micah Rucker (he does have impressive measurables) but you're not looking at the big picture.

Here is an important fact for you: Micah Rucker, Limas Sweed and Dallas Baker haven't done ANYTHING yet in the NFL. Nothing. Zippo. Nada. Willie Reid has done very, very little. Nate Washington, on the other hand, has over 1000 yards receiving the last two seasons and 9 TD catches (that's the same number as Santonio Holmes, during that same time period, just so you know.) He also has the highest YPC average. Our DB's have called Washington our fastest receiver and he can be a dangerous deep threat. He has made big plays. Is he inconsistent? Sure, but part of that also has to be blamed on the fact that he only gets in games on passing downs (and sometimes, last season, he alternated with Cedrick Wilson at the 3 spot.) I have argued Washington's case with many people on this and other boards and even his harshest critics not only realize that he's a shoe-in to make the team this season, but that he's also improved significantly over the last two years.

So before you push Washington off the roster, imagine our receiving corps if something happened to either Ward or Holmes. Sweed would be forced into a starting role early and the back-ups would consist of Micah Rucker (no NFL catches, just like Sweed,) Dallas Baker (no NFL catches, just like Sweed and Rucker) and/or Willie Reid (something like 4-5 NFL catches in his career.)

Just ain't gonna happen, but you're going to tell me again that it will.....

I realize what I am wishing for is improbable at best.

I believe I have made it clear that I am only wishing Rucker would take Nate's spot.

I am also just looking ahead a little bit. If we're not going to sign Nate long-term (despite all his productive numbers...) we are going to need someone RIGHT NOW. You're right, we have little, to no experience behind Ward. So get your future players in there now. If Nate isn't one of them (evidenced by the 1-yr contract) let's get someone else some experience before training camp next year.

And you know if my wishes come true...the Rucker kid is something special...which should make any Stiller happy. Another productive WR for peanuts.

My wishes, as of now:

1. Ward
2. Holmes
3. Sweed
4. Washington
5. Rucker

My wishes for next year:

1. Holmes
2. Ward
3. Sweed
4. Rucker
5. Baker

Washington will be a hell of a player in the AFL next year.

I seriously doubt that the FO is willing to give up on Reid this year. Given he hasn't shown much at all, I think they are pretty stubborn and will hang onto him for one more year.

I'm guessing:

Holmes
Ward
Sweed
Washington
Reid

You can make moronic comments about Washington being an Arena League player next year, or little snide remarks about his numbers, but the fact remains that Washington absolutely SHIT ALL OVER Cedrick Wilson and Willie Reid's production. I mean, most people would be pretty happy with 9 TD's and over 1,000 yards receiving out of a third receiver in the last two years, but obviously you expect much more.

Also, you seem awfully resigned to the fact that Washington will not be re-signed by the Steelers in 2009. You may be right about that, but I have a feeling that you might want to hold your horses a bit. With Ward being somewhat injury prone (and over 30 years of age) the last few years and Sweed being a rookie, Washington is going to get his chances to impress this season. If he steps his game up even further, shows more consistency and puts up, say close to 700 yards receiving a maybe 6-7 TD catches in 2008, well.....don't be surprised if the Steelers don't make a nice push to bring him back.

Not saying that's definitely going to happen, but I wouldn't write #85's obituary quite yet. If Micah Rucker puts up anywhere near 500 yards receiving and 5 TD's within the next few years, like Washington did in 2007, I have a feeling you'll be elated.

Well, most feel that Holmes, Ward, Sweed and Washington are flat-out locks. All reports that I've read say that Ben has taken a major liking to Dallas Baker and has been working with him to make him a better player. These same reports say that Baker has responded big time and has a major chance at making the squad.

I agree with you that I'm 100% sure the F.O. hasn't given up on Willie Reid just yet, but I think you'll agree with me when I say that Willie Reid had better be seriously impressive this summer and into the exhibition season. He better step it up BIG TIME and quickly.
