The Fate of Jeremy Bloom

Postby Rocklobster » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:06 am

Any feed back on how Bloom has been doing in camp, and what are his chances of making the team. :ugeek:

with the addition of Drummond and the depth at WR Bloom will have his work cut out seeing that he will only have a chance at ST. if he shows that he can tackle it will help.

Good call.. That makes sense. I saw a game in Boulder and he basically won the game for the Buff's. Hope he gets some chances with the upcoming pre season games.

He has very good speed, is tough, and has nerves of steel. Has not had bad showing in camp. He is definitely an upgrade over the last few who have been put there. If there is room having him and Drummond back there would significantly improve our return game and add the speed needed with decent hands to slow down defenders knowing that either man was physically capable of burning them if the first guy missed. Could be fun to watch if the blockers got involved and they will as soon as they have someone to block for. Good returners motivate the ST blockers and fire up the team a notch. This should be an interesting area to watch play out.

JStall. In a typical camp, would they keep two returners ? it sure does seem the last few years the team has gone no where in the return game. With Bloom it seems before he evens sets a foot on the field everyone doubts his ability. In reality the dude bombed down a ski slope at 70 mph and was one of the worlds best! Not to mention his proven talent on the football field in college. Seems like no brainer to me if in fact he has had a good camp thus far.

Rocklobster They have in the past but one is usually a number 3 or 4 receiver or RB. But I agree that they should this year though the RB is good Bloom has explosive speed and will smoothen out as he goes. He is a quick learner.

Bloom did play part of the 3rd qtr and all of the 4th qtr.. From what I saw a reverse was tried with little yardage gained.. Smoothly done though. And I saw him go back for 4 punts. All caught cleanly but no returns made. Was hoping to see him run run run... Maybe next game... I guess he is still alive.

I think the biggest problem Bloom has is the guys who did return kicks last night looked pretty good at returning them while he fair caught.

Yeah, I agree. The kicks to Bloom last night were pretty deep. He did okay, though.

He has NO CHANCE of making the team. Remember lil Joey Getherall? Once again no chance!

I wont say no chance in the fact that.
Preseason is not over.
If he shows he wants to play football He will step up and return a couple punts.

Im with you, i dont think he will make it either. BUT he is said to have some great hands and to be very quick/elusive... Im all for it if he is the best option... but Eddie Drummond is most likely going to be returning punts for us.

I am sorely disappointed that Mr. Bloom hasn't been given the opportunity thus far to show his burning speed.

In his defense, he hasn't fumbled anything kicked to him in a preseason game.

And to think... There's a small part of me that was hoping him to turn out to be our version of Wes Welker. I just don't see him making the squad due to the better talent in front of him.

We shall see.

Yep, coaching staff must feel there is a large enough gap between Bloom's ability and the other return guy's not to give Bloom the chance. Plus there has been no mention of his name in any of the Steeler beat writers work. With the upcoming cuts next week, his name will finally be heard.

I am dead serious when I say that I am embarrassed Bloom was ever given the opportunity to wear black and gold.
