The Steelers had a really good draft this year and got players of greater value than the pick used in most cases. This could be one of the best value picks of the bunch.
Marines should come with warning labels.

Dennis Dixon was a lock for the Heisman trophy you dumbasses. Until he tore his anterior cruciate ligament. Which means he would have been drafted in the FIRST ROUND not the fifth by us...and likely the first QB picked in the draft.

Heisman does not equal good draft pick or good NFL player.
Weak Argument.

How 'bout we give him the chance to prove he's either or neither before we go jumping to any conclusions, hmmm?

let's keep in mind that he was a FIFTH ROUNDER, so it's not like he was a reach.

by-the-by, ham, it doesn't much matter at this point which picks you like or dislike

How exactly is he going to prove anything? Heaven forbid Roethlisberger goes down, he'll prove that he can sit on the bench for the next 5 years. Only way he gets 'playing time' is when we're up by 2 or more TDs with 2 minutes to go in the fourth.

Dixon will look ok in preseason, but against NFL starting DB's he'll get picked - a lot.

Yeah he was a 5th round pick, and we could have found an interior offensive lineman or a DE in the 5th that would have been able to contribute as a back up this year, and develop for the future. Dixon is 3rd on the depth chart. It wasn't a need, and he isn't an NFL QB.

And this is a message board - it is all about what the fans think, even if it is what it is.

Obviously, you incredible dumbfuck, it would take an injury to Roethlisberger for Dixon to see time, but if you think an injury to Roethlisberger is out of the question, then....you don't understand football.

Charlie Batch will be back this season, but after that??? Dixon IS going to be Ben's top back-up within the next 2 years and it's pretty much a given that he'll see some playing time. Ben is the type of player that sacrifices his body to make plays. #7 also plays behind an EXTRA SHITTY offensive line, so it's more a matter of how much time Dixon sees in the future, not if he'll see any time at all.

My point exactly. Dixon will be the #2 QB after this season. Charlie Batch will be gone after this season. We drafted Dixon in the 5th round and I believe that is a steal for this guy if he continues to develop. That is what I meant when I said he COULD prove to be one of the best value picks of the draft. You guys do understand the term don't you? It means you get something of more value than what you paid for it. I believe Dixon will be of more value than MOST 5th round picks. Maybe not this year, but down the road he will.

I understand those bold terms.
They mean something like - it might happen, OR IT MIGHT NOT.
I can even use them in a sentence.
"I COULD win the lottery IF I bought a ticket, or MAYBE I would just be wasting a dollar."

Nice try, but having a backup QB that won't be a back QB for another couple of seasons and will not probably play at all does not constitute the biggest steal in the draft...no matter how you look at it.

Who said Roethlisberger getting injured was out of the question? You a little bitter over your buttboy NateNate
