If you were Tomlin...

Postby thesteelhammer » Fri Nov 21, 2008 11:40 pm

If you were Tomlin, what would you do with the extra days to get ready for the next game & remainder of the season?

sign a punter that can kick at least 40 yards.

defense is fine as is, offense just needs to not beat themselves and we got a realistic shot at the title.

If I am Tomlin I give the players off until Monday, then bring them back for 4 days of good, hard practice.

I don't take any days off myself, though. As coach, I study and search.

1)Call in around 6 punters; best man wins the job; ability to drop punts inside the 20 and kick off a plus
2)Call Ernster and ask for his playbook
3)Properly prepare the team for a strong, winning finish
4)Surreptitiously begin a search for a new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach
5)Begin to determine which potential free agents will be allowed to walk
6)Begin to identify scenarios in which flexibility on draft day can be attained

I would ask VP Dick Cheney to take Arians out on a hunting trip. :sushootem:

1. I would rewrite the playbook
2. Fire Arians and call plays myself.
3. Watch film and attack N.E.
4. sit Ben down and explain the fundamentals of making smart decisions in critical situations.
5. Have Ben and all receivers work out timing quick hits and quick reads for 8 hours a day.
6. Keep the O-Line working 18 hours a day on blocking and strength training. Still probably won't help but at least they would earn a little of their money.
7. Have Dick work on defending N.E.'s quick hits and getting pressure quick on Brady Jr. who is playing extremely well now much better than our QB.
8. Bench Casey Hampton and start Hoke who is quicker and more agile. Hampton hasn't been himself at all this year. He used to have decent speed for a big guy remember him running down ball carries weekly but not lately.
9. Film N.E. practice sessions. If they can do it (and they still are) so can we.
10. Shadow Welker he will be the big weapon that N.E. will use for the quick hits.
11. Have punter kicking 20 lb turkeys until he can kick 1 50 yards under pressure, well o.k. we don't have that much time. I agree we need a punter.
12. Call Mr. Rooney and get Colbet a hunting trip with Cheeney or fire him. Hell I bet he drafts another WR or RB in first round next year.
