Ward Wins Weekly Hard Hat Award (Game #10, @ Tenn.)

Stiller WR Hines Ward is the winner of our weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.

Ward turned in a supremely gritty effort in the loss to the Titans. He led the team with 11 receptions, but numbers don't come close to telling the story for this Hard Hatter.Ward caught numerous balls in traffic and took enormous punishment, yet kept coming back for more.On the Stillers' 3rd drive, on a crucial 3rd & 8, Ward caught a short curl, and then turned and faced 2 defenders with a third one closing in.Undaunted, Ward headed upfield, and churned, plowed, and twisted his way for 1st down yardage. Late in the game, when many a player might have mailed it in, Ward hauled in a deep seamer and was immediately blistered in the back of the neck by SS Tank Williams.Ward somehow kept his feet and his wits, and nearly got the ball into the EZ.He was clearly injured, yet had the presence of mind to limp off the field in order to save a timeout, as it was inside the 2:00 mark. After a spike play, Ward came back on and not only snared the next pass for a TD, but also the follow-on 2-point conversion pass. This kind of gutty, never-say-die effort by Ward is precisely what the Hard Hat Award is all about.

Kudos to "Hines 57" for winning the weekly Hard Hat Award.Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Hines !!
