Best Bet Plus Two (week 14)

December 09, 2009 by Steel Haven

Short and sweet. I suck. A sixth straight 1-2 week including a best bet loss. Trying to use logic to pick games is killing me. Throw in another soul crushing Steelers loss and a smart man would quit. Not just writing this column, but watching football altogether. My only salvation was that my best bet loss involved the Patriots being upset outright. That and my general stubbornness will keep me going albeit with less commentary (and hopefully less logic).

Best Bet

Green Bay Packers (-3) over Chicago Bears

Picking a road favorite in a rivalry game is the kiss of death. I am counting on Cutler reverting to the form that resulted in 20 interceptions in 11 games a week after he managed not to turn the ball over for the first time since his 4th game of the season. Added incentive.... Packers defense is tied for second in the league in interceptions and second in producing turnovers. There I go, trying to use logic again. I'm doomed.

Others

San Diego Chargers (+3) over Dallas Cryboys

I am counting on Romo being worse in December than I am at picking games.

Arizona Cardinals (-3.5) over San Fransisco 49ers

What is it with me and road teams? Again I go with a full slate of visitors. Maybe if I paid more attention to home field advantage I would not be in such a tailspin. I'd say live and learn, but you know that is just not true. The 49ers pissed me off last week by losing the game in Seattle in the fourth quarter. So F'em. Alright, a nice illogical reason to pick a game.

Last week

New England Patriots (-5) over Miami Dolphins LOSS

Denver Broncos (-4.5) over Kansas City Chiefs WIN

San Fransisco 49ers (E) over Seattle Seahawks LOSS

Record to date: 20-19   Best bets: 7-6
