Best Bets (plus two)

I was shutout for the first time this season. A bad week to say the least. My venture into the realm of home favorites was an abject failure. Both of my picks favored by 6.5 points lost outright. My road favorite gave up 10 unanswered fourth quarter point and lost in overtime. The teams I picked had a combined -5 turnover differential. Brutal.

I am back on the road favorites. Every team I picked this week is a road favorite. Two choices are divisional matchups. Probably not the best strategy. I certainly wasn't looking for this pattern, it just worked out that way. The other team I considered was the Jets (-3.0) against the Broncos. Denver is just such a tough trip, especially for an east coast opponent.

Best Bet

Indianapolis Colts (-3.0) over Washington Redskins

The Colts have actually been good to me despite my ill advised pick of them in Jacksonville where they always have problems. They have accounted for two of my wins. I am still a believer in them at least in the regular season despite their two losses. The Redskins screwed me last week with their fourth quarter comeback against the Packers. I am still not a believer in them.

Others

New Orleans Saints (-4.5) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I am going right back to the well against a second team that beat me last week. The Bucs have still shockingly only lost to the Steelers. The Saints are scuffling with Drew Brees looking out of synch. The loss of Reggie Bush to injury hasn't helped. I don't care. Time for the Saints offense to break out.

Tennessee Titans (-3.0) over Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars saved their season two weeks ago and beat me with a victory over the Colts. I decided to ignore the Colts historical penchant for struggling in Jacksonville at my own peril. Then the Jags kept the positive momentum going in Buffalo. The Titans and Jaguars have split their last four games in Jacksonville and the Titans are clearly not the Bills. The Titans beat me last week with Chris Johnson getting back on track so I have jumped on the bandwagon.

Last Week

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.0) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers LOSS

Dallas Cowboys (-6.5) over Tennessee Titans LOSS

Green Bay Packers (-2.5) over Washington Redskins LOSS

Year to date: 6-9   Best bets: 2-3
