Pourdanesh Wins Weekly Hard Hat Award

Stiller OT Shar Pourdanesh is the 1st winner of my weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill. I'd wanted to do this weekly award from the outset of the season, but the season opener versus Baltimore was so slackly and void of any legitimate nominees, that I put it off that week.

Pourdanesh came in early in the game to replace an injured Marvel Smith, and responded with a gritty, effective performance against one of the best defensive fronts in the AFC. The Mad Iranian fought both Jevon Kearse and Kenny Holmes (who were often flip-flopping sides) tooth and nail, and neither one of those DEs ever came close to harassing the QB via Shar's blocking. Shar also run-blocked well. And, when Bettis got shoved while starting his TD dance, it was the Mad Iranian who immediately stepped in and confronted the Titan defender. Pourdanesh, in fact, irritated Kearse all day, either continuing his drive blocking against Kearse some 10 yards downfield or getting in Kearse's face and yapping & barking.

Kudos to Shar, for winning the weekly Hard Hat Award. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Shar!!
