Chargers 25, Stillers 10 ...... Nov 9, 2025 …………Game # 9
Stillers-Chargers Postgame Analysis and Grades
The 5-3 Stillers travelled out west to face the 6-3 LA Chargers. It was a tight 1H, with LA clinging to a thin lead of 5-2, but LA scored a TD just before halftime to make it 12-3. The Bolts poured it on in the 2H, turning a nailbiter into a whipping.
Grades:
QB: Rodgers got the start, and had perhaps the worst game of his career. He was scattershot throughout, and timid, clumsy, and vastly ineffective. Tossed 1 poor INT (the other wasn’t his fault; rather, it was PeePee Austin’s), and walked backwards into a 1Q safety. Very ugly, although this is what ya get from 42-year old QBs not named Brady. F
RB:
Warren – Perhaps the lone bright spot on O. Ran and caught the ball well. A
Kaleb J. – Ran a few plays. Showed some promise on a couple of them
Gainwell – Had no carries, but actually out snapped Waren, which should never, ever happen.
FB: rarely if ever used.
WR:
Metcalf – Had a quiet, meager game, with 3 grabs for 35. Sure, Rodgers missed him on a 1B deep ball, but this ain’t nowhere near good enough for a WR1 making this kind of cash. C-
Austin – Deep into the 4Q, PeePee had 1 grab for 8 yards. HE allowed a perfectly thrown slant pass to CLANG off his hands for an easy INT. Had 2 grabs for 14. D
Wilson – The King of Garbage time, Big Roman snared a worthless 8 yards out on the final play of the 1H, and then scored on a 27-yard catch & run late in the 4Q when LA botched their coverage and then didn’t even try to tackle the RAC runner. C
Skowronek – did nothing on O, as usual.
Scott Miller – sat out with injured finger.
TE:
Pat FryBoy – Had 3 grabs for 33, which ain’t much considering his fatty salary. C-
Jonnu Smith – failed to come down with the big-play pass Arod tossed to him in the 2Q. Finished wit h1 grab for 4 yards. Remember this psat summer, when Big Jonnu was gonna put up all sorts of gaudy numbers in this offense? C-
Darnell – Had a 1Q grab for 15 yards….then was ignored the entire rest of the game.
Con Heyward – thankfully, rarely played/
OL: Overall, the line (Jones, Andrus Peat, Frazier McCormick, Fautanu) had a sorry game. The pas pro stunk, and the ground blocking wasn’t all that great. Peat started the game off with a false start. Fautanu helped cause the safety. Jones received plenty of whippings. Not a game to be proud of from this crew. C
DL:
Heyward – Did pretty much nothing, although he had a couple of tipped passes. Finally got his first (and only) solo of the game, at 6:25 4Q, during garbage time. Complete garbage. C-
Benton – Was actually energetic and disruptive. May have had his best NFL game, ever. A
YaYa Black – Did little.
Harmon – Had a couple solid plays. He’s already 3 times better than what Scam Heyward is doing nowadays. B+
LB:
Queen – The Queen was a bit more active than most game, tho he was hardly dominant. Only 2 solos from an ILB who literally never left the field. Ain’t good enough. C
Pey Wilson – Played ok, but hardly a force against the run, where this D got gashed by Vanal. C+
Watt – Had some pressures, and got a late, meaningless sack. Not enough. D+
Highsmith – Had 2 solos and 0 As, with both solos being sacked. Both were Dong sacks off pressure by OTHER rushers, and then Bumsmith got the Dong sack picking up garbage. The 1st sack, in fact, was for a whopping 1 yard. Late in the 1H, with SD facing a 3d & 1 on the PIT 18, Big Alex had a chance to MAKE A STICK and force a FG try. Here’s the video, here.
Flagged for offsides, early 3Q. In all, Fraudsmith did jak all game long. Don’t let the Dong sacks fool you. C-
Herbig – Had a superb speed sack, 2Q. Got limited PT.
Malik Harrison – Saw by far his most extensive PT of the season, at ILB.
Sawyer – allowed Videll to bounce outside for a 9 yard gain, 4Q. Poor. Did nothing in limited PT.
DB
Joey Porter Jr. - dropped a fairly easy INT, 1Q. Allowed McConkey to bounce right off him on the 58-yard catch & run, 4Q. C
Slay – Got injured, for the 18th time this season.
Duggar – had some ok play, but never found anywhere near an aerial football.
Jalen Ramsey - Mostly played okay, but had some issues as well.
Echols – Got scorched by McConkey for the TD pass late in the 1H, and had some other issues as well.
Pierre – got some PT due to injury. Busted up a pass, 4Q. But then got tooled in the 4Q.
Spec teams:
Waitman – punted okay. Had a couple that weren’t quite booming. B
Boswell – finally had a real miss (not a crappy-turf miss), from 45. But nailed a 59-yarder. B
Ke-Shawn Williams muffed a punt, giving LA the ball in the 4Q and adding the final nail to the coffin.
OC: Art Smith and his vaunted offense struggled like beehotches in this game. Sure, the QB play was poor. But so was the blocking, the scheme, and the routes. And rotting Warren behind Gainwell…..just tomfoolery at its worst. Or Darnell Wash….he gets targeted in the 1Q, for 15 yards, and then is negelected the entire rest of the game. Theres simply far too much grab-gagging going on, and no discernable scheme or modus operandi here. D
DC: Austin had the luxury of fdacing a decimated LA O-line, and a rather blah offense at large. But Austin and his mighty crew got chewed up, once again, come the 2H. If they don’t get a flukey turnover or three, this defense has shown to be very, very ordinary. D
HC: Mike Buttlin was all cocky after this loss. That’s what lifetime employment does to a bumbling HC. He failed to have his team prepared and ready to hunt bear, which is his only redeeming quality as a HC. Right now, this is an inconsistent football team that has little optimism for playoff success. F
Synopsis: A grisly loss; with the beatdown worse than what the final score indicates. Up next, a home game against Cinci, who abused this team a few weeks back.
